The Highlights:
Reports to the Director of International Student Success to provide students with an exceptional international experience that increases their enthusiasm for DePaul and globalizes their world-view by implementing programs and projects that support the overall successful adjustment and integration of the international student population to DePaul. Contributes actively to both the International Student & Scholar Services advising team and the International Student Success engagement team, as an advisor, team and project manager, and student supervisor.

What You'll Do:


  • Intake Management: Manage extremely busy front desk operation (60+ visitors/day). Hire, train and supervise 2-6 student support staff to ensure that each visitor's first introduction to the Global Engagement suite is friendly, welcoming, and accurate. Train support staff to assess the nature and relative urgency of student, staff, and faculty questions and appropriately direct inquiries on matters related to admission, maintenance of non-immigrant lawful status, lawful enrollment, work authorization, student engagement opportunities, event sign-up, and international travel. Manage escalated student issues and crises response. Evaluate each individual situation, determine necessary resources, provide compassionate care while bridging students to relevant resources.
  • Engagement Program Management: In collaboration with the Director, develop, implement and assess international student orientation and leadership programs that ensure the success of international student orientation and integration university-wide. Create D2L pre-arrival course for each term, and auto-enroll all eligible students; maintain student enrollment in the course through the pre-arrival cycle. Maintain integrity of the course, including differentiating content for students holding different visa types. Supervise student ambassadors to ensure participation and incoming student questions are responded to in a timely manner. Advise student groups and supervise student leaders; maintain a wide knowledge of university and community resources available to students; provide logistical planning support for student programs; market international student programming. Will be actively involved in leading student orientations, welcome events, arrival services, and on-going campus student engagement programs throughout the academic year.
  • Advising: Act as Designated School Official (DSO) on record with the Department of Homeland Security as responsible for carrying out federally mandated regulations on behalf of the University. Assess student and exchange faculty needs; provide basic immigration advising and support to international students, student leaders, and student employees. Assist in delivering immigration-related information sessions for students; review student immigration status and provide travel signatures for student visa holders as appropriate; manages document request system and issues immigration documents after reviewing and approving requests; reviews and approves immigration check-in documents for SEVIS registration; determines eligibility and removes course registration holds. Works closely with other advisors to maintain and distribute advising handouts on wide-ranging topics ranging from how to maintain lawful immigration status to how to open a bank account and how to get a driver's license.
  • Manage multiple busy inboxes (both Global DePaul and ISS): Manage all ISS cases through Salesforce. Evaluate cases and provide basic immigration advising. Ensure all cases are responded to in a timely manner. Create, maintain and improve email templates and knowledge base articles. Create and link videos to email templates and knowledge base articles to enhance the student experience. Review email templates, videos and website to ensure currency and accuracy with departmental, university and regulatory information. For complex cases that do not have templated responses, research answers and resources, create individual unique responses. Monitor case closure times; identify and report system issues impeding efficiency. Monitor Global DePaul inbox, review responses for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Supervise team of student employees and volunteers as assigned; student projects may include front desk intake services, database management, website development, orientation and programming support, and assessment initiatives.
  • Responsible for managing budgets associated with any paid student-worker positions related to developing or delivering programming, services and support to international students.


What You'll Need:


  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree, preferred.
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience, preferably in a university setting.
  • Close attention to detail, good cross-cultural communication skills, and strong computing skills, preferred.
  • Proven interest and experience in student development preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience working on progressively complex projects or assignments.
  • Prior experience living abroad and/or working with international students strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills including writing, speaking/presenting; collaborative/team player; proven intercultural skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work successfully with a diverse range of people at all levels of the university, solve conflicts and find positive solutions required.
  • Computer skills: Should be at an advanced level and must include thorough knowledge of MicroSoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
  • This position requires a detail-oriented person with excellent organizational skills and the willingness and ability to manage multiple requests from numerous sources; must be flexible, adaptable, and sensitive to the demands of an international office.
  • Ability to work well on a team and independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Some weekend and evening hours depending on programming events.



The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $42,679.00 to $48,925.00 per year.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
