Initial appointment is for one year, full time with benefits. Continuation beyond one year will be based on performance and availability of funding. Application Window Open date: June 26, 2025 Next review date: Monday, Jul 14, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Sep 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Neuroscience Research Institute at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a full-time Junior Specialist in the Laboratory for Stem Cell Biology and Engineering (LSCBE). The appointee will develop methods to optimize the generation, maintenance and analysis of stem cell derived retinal pigmented epithelial cells (RPE) and retinal organoids cultures. The Junior Specialist will conduct experiments working towards developing therapeutics for inherited retinal disorders including testing small molecules and applying gene therapies. The appointee will develop procedures to maintain and use highly advanced novel research equipment which was recently purchased for LSCBE. The appointee will enable research as part of a team, managed by senior laboratory personnel and support ongoing research activities.
