Tool Room Machinist

Acara Solutions is seeking a Tool Room Machinist for our client in Roslyn Heights, NY!

We are seeking qualified candidates with:

• CNC machining experience and strong toolroom knowledge
• Mechanical aptitude and keen attention to detail
• A reliable work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude

Here's what you'll do:

• Repair live tool holders and accessories for STAR Swiss style CNC lathes. Disassemble, clean, evaluate, order parts, and re-assemble.
• Hold extremely tight tolerance, (1-5 MICRONS) on rotating assemblies.
• Support the Service and Applications departments by fully utilizing all standard machine shop tools, including: manual lathes, mills, grinders, saws, hones, and hand tools.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Design and make custom tooling for production machines.
• Take precise measurements and marking materials for cutting or shaping.
• Select appropriate tools and machine settings for each task.
• Machine multiple types of metal alloys and/or plastics to tight tolerances
• Follow safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
• Retro fit parts.
• Perform routine maintenance on Star CNC equipment to keep them in optimal condition (I.E. lathes, milling machines, grinders, and air compressor).
• Inspect finished parts for defects and ensuring they meet specifications.

Position Type: Direct Placement

Salary: Up to $75K/yr.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 4 years' experience as a CNC Machinist or Toolmaker.
• Minimum 4 years' experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Minimum 4 years' experience modifying/making various tools, holders and components.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Formal training or secondary education in CNC Machining is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments.
