Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing

Under the direction of Director of Residence Life & Housing (Dir RLH), the Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing Operations will serve on the leadership team within a residence life and housing program that is evolving and focusing on creating a diverse and equitable living learning environment. The incumbent is responsible for supporting and maintaining a comprehensive residential environment that is academically and socially engaging. The incumbent participates in the Student Affairs administrator on-call rotation, oversees housing operations, assignments and technology as well as other responsibilities determined in conjunction with the Director of Residence Life and Housing. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-on position.

Essential Functions:

1. Residential Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day housing department operations (residence hall facilities, health and safety issues, security, housing accommodations/disability services);
  • Responsible for key management for all residence halls (tracking, ordering, etc.) and student/staff card access exceptions for residential facilities;
  • Work with Buildings & Grounds to coordinate damage assessment and billing, furniture replacement and regular building walkthroughs;
  • Work with the Dir RLH and Buildings & Grounds to identify and assess priorities for residence hall renovation and enhancements;
  • Serve as primary RLH liaison with the following departments: Buildings and Grounds, Public Safety, Information Technology, and Dining Services;
  • Coordinate all departmental marketing materials including new student promotional materials, residential civility and housing deposit/selection publicity;
  • Coordinate all housing selection/lottery and assignment processes for all students, including incoming student roommate and room matching including summer and break periods;
  • Work with Community Director staff on the room change processes;
  • Monitor and report housing occupancy, noting trends and projections;
  • Create and manage furniture budget, inventory tracking and replacement cycle in conjunction with Buildings & Grounds.

2. Technology Management:
  • Oversee the management, implementation of and training Residence Life & Housing staff with: The Housing Director, CBORD, CCURE, and Banner; provide training for all members of the department as necessary;
  • Manage Residence Life & Housing external website and portal content including collaboration with Institutional Advancement on building description and virtual tours.

3. Other Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a hearing administrator for violations of the Student Code of Conduct;
  • Oversee and assist the staff with the coordination and distribution of opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of semester, breaks and vacation periods;
  • Serve as departmental contact for student service vendors including laundry, linen program and microfridge rental program;
  • Mentor Community Directors;
  • Represent the department on divisional and/or campus-wide committees;
  • Participate in the Administrator On Call rotation, serving as advisor and back up to the Community Director On Duty staff.

Additional Functions:
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.


Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of professional experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with a variety of individuals.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to adapt your personal and professional schedule to the unique demands of residence life and the College's calendar (opening, closing, breaks, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with supervisory responsibilities.

Salary Range:

$55,000 to $60,000 annually
