JOB TITLE:

Assistant Librarian-Transfer Support Librarian

JOB PURPOSE:

The University of Wyoming Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and patron-focused librarian for the Transfers Support Librarian in the Research & Instruction Department. Approximately 45% of the University of Wyoming student population is a transfer student, this position works to support transfer student success across campus by coordinating support with the Dean of Students Office, Office of Transfer Relations, and Wyoming Community Colleges Libraries including managing the Personal Librarian Program and designing workshops, programming, and learning objects in support of transfer student success. Additionally, the Transfer Support Librarian manages the Library Coach program including supervising student workers and a Library Specialist.

This role includes developing a clear understanding of the teaching, research, and scholarly communication practices in assigned liaison areas; providing research consultation and instructional support as needed; and engaging with and communicating with liaison units on behalf of the Libraries. Collaborate with colleagues inside and outside the Research & Instruction Department for projects, assessment, and instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate outreach efforts for transfer students including coordinating and expanding the Personal Librarian Program for transfer students and developing workshops and providing targeted support for programs.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of student learning, with a focus on transfer learning.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts to Wyoming and regional community college libraries to support transfer student success and information and digital literacies.
  • Serve as the liaison librarian for assigned departments determined by the incumbent's expertise and department needs and provide information literacy instruction for these departments as well as other Research & Instruction initiatives.
  • Manage the Library Coach program, including supervision of student workers and a Library Specialist to support undergraduate student success.

This position reports to the chair of Research & Outreach Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Please address all minimum qualifications in your application materials.
  • ALA-accredited MLS, MIS, or ALA-recognized equivalent by start date
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience supporting faculty and students with consultation services
  • Experience providing instruction and/or workshops to faculty, students, and staff in an academic setting
  • Knowledge of transfer student support, including support for non-traditional students
  • Knowledge of peer research mentor programs and support
  • Knowledge of information literacy principles and applications of the Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education
