JOB TITLE: Vivarium Laboratory Aid I in MORF JOB PURPOSE: Take care of research animals in the Science Initiative's Model Organism Research Facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Change and clean mice cages; - Operate cage washer to wash dirty cages; - Feed and water rodents; - Wash and fill water bottles; - Feed Xenopus frogs and clean filters and maintain water quality parameters; - Routine functional checks and cleaning for the animal facility (check temperatures and ventilation, sweep/mop, etc.); - Miscellaneous related tasks. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: - Provide weekend coverage for animal health checks, provide any necessary care or feeding required during these checks - Help provide holiday coverage or technician coverage when full time technicians are on vacation or sick - Be able to keep a consistent working schedule every semester. The working schedule can be adjusted to your class schedule at the beginning of every semester. - Be able to work during the summer and winter holiday season. Pre-arranged shift coverage with colleagues is available. - At least one-year commitment to work. COMPETENCIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with rodents and aquatic animals REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS: Complete the online application.
