$6,929- $9,461/Monthly 

Starting salary up to $54.40/hour ($113,539/year) and a competitive total compensation package!*

Sonoma Public Infrastructure seeks skilled candidates to fill two positions at either the Building Mechanic I or II levels. If you are interested in being considered at both levels, you must apply to the separate, concurrent recruitments being conducted for each level.


Building Mechanics perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance, remodel, construction, painting, and repair of buildings and equipment, and performs related work as required. As the full working level, a Building Mechanic II is distinguished from the I level by the amount of professional experience and knowledge/achievement expected. The Building Mechanic II may direct and train Building Mechanic I and Building Maintenance Worker. An employee in this class works with considerable independence, with work being subject only to periodic spot checks. 

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical systems, electrical and electronic systems, chillers, boilers, and general plumbing equipment
  • Installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining manual and electronic door locks, door hardware, and door closers
  • Utilizing and navigating computerized maintenance management systems and building management systems
  • Keeping records and logs and preparing simple reports
  • Additional typical duties include general carpentry, installing flooring and baseboards, installing window glass, and preparing and painting a variety of surfaces and structures
