Responsibilities

In this position, you will collaborate closely with our internal business partners to design, code, test, and support our billing and payment communications. Our team plays a vital role in delivering essential communications to customers through various channels, including batch processing, near-real-time interactions, and on-demand capabilities (email, paper, text, and push notifications), along with supporting document capabilities (preview, draft, storage, and links).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design effective solutions.
  • Develop, test, and deploy code to enhance our billing and payment communication systems.
  • Design and maintain existing systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Utilize best practices in software development to ensure high-quality deliverables.


Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with 3 years of Software Engineering experience who also have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role; experience in a lead capacity is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AWS, NodeJS, Java, Javascript, Python, Git, and/or Terraform.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Considerations:

  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming Principals
  • Maintains advanced understanding of programming languages - Java, NodeJS, Python
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, SQS, Aurora, Dynamo, S3, Step Functions, Infrastructure As Code (Terraform).
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise systems architecture (e.g., Source Control Management, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Interface Contracts, SLA)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Growth mindset.
  • Applies skills, tools, security processes, applications, environments and programming language(s) to complete complex assignments.
  • Applies advanced engineering practices to design and support a cloud-based application.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex problems/issues.
  • Maintains advanced understanding in software engineering topics
  • Maintains advanced understanding in computing environments.
  • Applies advanced understanding regarding technology trends/changes, best practices, and processes to complete assignments and influence the direction of product solutions.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with others across multiple teams and departments to achieve department and enterprise goals

An ideal Engineer candidate will:

  • Enjoy working on new teams and innovative products, services, and capabilities.
  • Have knowledge of one or more State Farm Products and Lines of Business (Auto, Fire, Life, Health, Mutual Funds, etc.) and associated modernization efforts
  • Have incident management (defect/ticketing) experience.
  • Have a financial background and exposure to product line data (Auto (primary), Fire, Life, Health, Mutual Funds, Bank).
  • Possess some degree of knowledge of SFPP, Modernized Payment applications and/or Billing, and operational business practices.
  • Have an ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and manage work for multiple efforts to meet team support/delivery goals.

  • Potential starting salary range: $95,800 - $110,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
