About the team: As part of our Product and Design Team, you will work directly with designers and product managers who are focused on our product experience. We have a collaborative approach to problem-solving with our partners in the organization, ensuring that user experience is at the core of our product development. About the role: As a Senior UX Engineer, you'll partner directly with a Principal Designer to form a highly agile, high-output team capable of prototyping directly in our front end web platform, bypassing traditional handoff inefficiencies focused on modernizing the Dice.com UI. If you're a developer with a strong eye for design - someone who cares about the details, systems thinking, and building real things - this is your lane. Why we're hiring for this role: We are seeking a curious, creative, and technically skilled Senior UX Engineer to help shape the future of design at Dice. This role is central to a new workflow strategy that empowers designers and developers to work side-by-side in code, building production-ready UI experiences with AI-assisted tooling, rapid iteration, and deep integration with our platform. In the short term you will:
- Build live, high-fidelity UI prototypes in Next.js using our in-house design system (Snake Eyes UI)
- Partner with a designer to co-own early-stage product prototyping and UI problem-solving
- Translate product ideas into working UI that's easy for feature teams to wire up with APIs and finalize
- Rapidly experiment with emerging AI tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and help evaluate their impact on design and dev workflows
In the long term you will:
- Contribute to and help evolve Snake Eyes UI (our design system) as a first-class product
- Maintain accessibility, performance, and compliance standards across UI work
- Share work often, gather feedback early, and iterate quickly in the browser
- Contribute to internal experiments, like an in-house v0.dev-style UI generator powered by our codebase and design system
- Support a culture of systems thinking, craft, and curiosity across design and engineering
What you bring to the team: Required:
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system
- Fluency in modern front-end development: Next.js, React, Tailwind, and Headless UI systems (e.g., React Aria)
- Prior experience with platform-scale web apps and modular architecture
- Experience with accessibility-first development
- Strong understanding of design systems, atomic component structures, and responsive design
- Comfort prototyping in code and working without pixel-perfect Figma mockups
- Entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability and ownership, willing to learn and fail fast
- Experience working in cross-functional product teams, ideally with tight design and dev pairing
- Curiosity about AI tooling for development or design workflows (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.)
- Attention to detail and pride in polished, accessible, and scalable interfaces
- Familiarity with Git and modern version control workflows
- Ability to think strategically while delivering tactically
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development or equivalent experience
- Experience participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications.
- Portfolio, GitHub repo, or public site(s) with clearly described contributions.
