WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING

We care deeply about transforming lives with AMD technology to enrich our industry, our communities, and the world. Our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences - the building blocks for the data center, artificial intelligence, PCs, gaming and embedded. Underpinning our mission is the AMD culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges. We strive for execution excellence while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives.

AMD together we advance_

The Role

IREE is an MLIR based, open source, ML compiler stack that can target multiple backends. As a new college graduate, or as someone looking to get into the field of compilers for AI, working in IREE code generation will be a great learning experience. This role will give you a chance to understand how to build, develop and deploy within a compiler used on multiple architectures. The candidate is expected to be able to contribute to architecture-agnostic program optimizations as well as to making the compiler generate efficient code for different backends. This is a great opportunity to participate in open-source development and start engaging with a vibrant development community outside of AMD (Advanced Micro Devices).

The person

The ideal candidate for this role is someone willing to jump in and solve problems in the compiler (functionality or performance). The candidate is willing to get to the root of the problem, suggest solutions, implement, and deploy them within the compiler. The candidate is willing to spend time learning the fundamentals of various transformations and optimizations applied in the compiler stack and help improve them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and get to root cause of issues within the compiler (performance or functionality)
  • Formulate/ implement potential solutions for the problem based on understanding the transformations being done.
  • Develop and understanding of the overall compiler stack and find areas of improvement, in terms of both efficacies of optimizations, and compile time performance.
  • Engage with the community to develop in open source, contributing to both IREE and MLIR.
  • Maintain high level of code-quality and testing.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor or Masters from a university in good standing.
  • Proficient in C++, and ability to follow development practices in LLVM/MLIR/IREE.
  • Experience of working in compiler frameworks, like LLVM/MLIR, would be great, but not a requirement.
  • Prior experience with basics of traditional compiler optimizations, polyhedral compilation techniques, is a plus.
