WOLAK LEARNING FELLOW STUDENT LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking student employees on the Academic Affairs Team to be part of the Wolak Learning Fellows program. NOTE: YOU MUST BE RECOMMENDED FOR THESE POSITIONS BY A FACULTY MEMBER.

Wolak Learning Fellows is a program where student employees are selected to help support teaching and learning in a class where many students typically struggle. This is an excellent leadership opportunity that can help you in graduate school applications and in applying for jobs. Learn more about Learning Fellows by visiting the LEAI Sharepoint.

  • You must be invited to participate in this program.

  • This Academic Affairs position is different from the Peer Educator position through the Wolak Learning Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enroll in and complete SNHU398: Design Thinking and Learning Pedagogy, a no-cost, general education capstone course designed to develop your teaching and learning strategies (Career & Self-Development, Critical Thinking).

  • Apply course content and pedagogical concepts to foster a more inclusive, engaging, and effective classroom environment (Equity & Inclusion, Critical Thinking).

  • Collaborate with faculty and fellow Learning Fellows to assess and address classroom needs, contributing to a culture of shared learning and innovation (Teamwork, Leadership).

  • Support student learning by providing peer-to-peer academic assistance during class sessions to deepen subject comprehension and encourage active engagement (Communication, Equity & Inclusion).

  • Consistently attend all scheduled class sessions, arriving prepared and on time to uphold the standards of professionalism and accountability (Professionalism).

  • Participate in weekly class huddles (1 hour/week) to reflect on classroom observations, co-develop instructional strategies, and align efforts with course goals (Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork).

  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and preparedness for all assigned meetings and responsibilities (Professionalism).

  • Adapt to additional tasks or assignments as needed, maintaining a flexible and proactive mindset (Professionalism, Career & Self-Development).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active enrollment in an Undergraduate On-Campus Day program at SNHU (Career & Self-Development).

  • Faculty recommendation for participation in the Learning Fellows program (Leadership, Career & Self-Development).

  • Achieve a grade of B or higher in the course you will support (Critical Thinking, Professionalism).

  • Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability as foundational elements of success in this role (Professionalism).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Patient, detail-oriented, compassionate, helpful.

  • Interested in improving teaching and learning.

Work Hours:

  • You will attend every session of one course where you are a Learning Fellow. (about 2.5 hours a week)

  • You will attend one weekly huddle with your team. (about 1 hour a week)

  • You may have the option to be a Learning Fellow in more than one section of the class or more than one class.

  • All Learning Fellows do between 3-5 hours per week on average, however extra hours may be available through Wolak Learning Fellows with approval. You may be able to apply to be a Peer Educator through the Learning Center in addition to your role as a Wolak Learning Fellow. Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
