Job Description

We are seeking a Controller who will build on that success by not only managing the organizations' financial health and financial reporting, but who will also build productive relationships across businesses and serve as a trusted partner to leadership teams of Colony Brands and its affiliates.

What You'll Do:
As Controller, you'll be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, helping to maintain the strong financial position of the enterprise. This responsibility includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and overseeing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results meet internal requirements and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer. You will be accountable for partnering with the organization's varied companies, lines of business, and key stakeholders to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and obligations to ensure financial objectives and activities are aligned to meet the goals of the organization and compliance requirements.

WHAT IT TAKES:
Our ideal candidate is a steady leader with significant accounting, finance, and audit experience with complex corporate accounting structures. You must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, or related major, and 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders. All team members are required to work onsite at our Monroe, WI headquarters.

In addition, you should have:
* Experience in complex corporate accounting structures
* Public accounting experience; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant designations
* Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to the company mission and values
* Experience with federal, state, and local income and franchise tax issues including determining ramifications of new business opportunities on nexus at the state and local level.
* A proactive, hands-on strategic mindset
* Proven responsibility and results for accounting and finance
* Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, inventory, and cash management
* Technology skills with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; a knowledge of accounting and reporting software
* Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team with the foresight and ability to delegate and develop accordingly
* Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which allow for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in effectively communicating key data at all levels of the organization
* Experience and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance employees
