As the Sr. Director, Clinical Strategy and Operations you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the Clinical Consulting vision and strategy spanning clinical consulting, coding, drug trend, and programs. This key leadership position drives strategic and operational excellence across multiple teams ensuring alignment of PBM clinical priorities with strategic goals and objectives of the overall organization and clients. You will work collaboratively with leaders and teams across Optum to ensure cross-functional alignment, efficiency, and partnerships.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Lead critical projects related to streamlining the clinical consulting and coding operational model, ensuring efficiency and collaboration across enterprise partner teams
  • Develop and manage prioritization processes for that drive client experience, clinical program growth and innovation, and drug trend
  • Help create a cohesive business roadmap aligned with organizational objectives, ensuring clear integration and execution with key delivery partners
  • Identify and lead strategic initiatives on behalf of the CCO and Clinical Consulting leadership team (e.g. - talent/consultant upskilling, product enhancements/penetration, high-priority trends, consultant ad-hoc client or stakeholder needs)
  • Establish formal alignment processes that foster collaboration among key stakeholders to enhance business strategy development and execution across functions
  • Develop and track KPIs/MBOs to align with goals, ensuring progress is monitored and maintained across the leadership team
  • Consistently looks at existing processes, methods, and materials to find opportunities for improvement

Required Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of healthcare, PBM, or pharmacy experience developing and leading end-to-end transformation programs (e.g. clinical strategy, clinical programs, client/patient experience, technology implementations)
  • Experience driving client experience, clinical program growth and innovation, and drug trend organizational objectives, ensuring clear integration and execution with key delivery partners
  • Experience establishing formal alignment processes that foster collaboration among key stakeholders to enhance business strategy development and execution across functions
  • Experience developing and tracking KPIs/MBOs to align with goals, ensuring progress is monitored and maintained across the leadership team
  • Experience driving operational efficiency in matrix delivery environments
  • Experience initiating large programs or projects and providing end-to-end leadership across multiple functions and matrix partner teams
  • Experience effectively interpreting, evaluating and summarizing key information and presenting at various levels
  • Experience synthesizing, communicating and storytelling complex topics to executive audiences
  • Basic competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
