Overview and Responsibilities

As a member of the Professional Development team, the Faculty Developer facilitates faculty development activities for all full-time and adjunct faculty. The faculty developer supports faculty in areas related to equitable practices, classroom management, instructional design, delivery, and assessment and provides a collaborative, team-based approach in working with faculty, academic leaders, mentors, and the Director of Professional Development to ensure quality in teaching and learning. The Faculty Developer assists in the development of both full-time and adjunct faculty by facilitating professional development sessions, providing individualized coaching and communication, and by assisting faculty with connecting to needed resources.

Responsibilities:

    Facilitate new faculty academy and adjunct faculty onboarding.
  • Lead the mentor program and collaborate with faculty mentors.
  • Plan and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Perform classroom observation cycle with faculty participating in the Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS).
  • Collaborate with Academic Leadership to address faculty instructional needs.
  • Provide individual coaching and support to faculty.
  • Assist with planning and implementing all Professional Development initiatives in online and in-person formats including:
    • Faculty in-service
    • New Faculty Development Program
    • Professional development offerings
    • Facilitate FQAS competency courses
    • Professional Development Day
  • Establish a solid relationship with all CVTC faculty and leaders.
  • Exhibit understanding of instructional design principles, learning theory, cooperative learning methods and practices, and performance-based assessments.
  • Demonstrate understanding of higher education institutions and current trends in postsecondary education.
  • Support the WTCS FQAS team through contributing to annual reports, participation in calls and meetings, system-wide summit, and overseeing the implementation of FQAS competency curriculum.
  • Participate in Professional Development grant activities and manage the grant when assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of people one-on-one and in a team environment.

  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in an education-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years full-time teaching experience.
  • Experience with course design, delivery, assessment, and collaborative learning.
