THE POSITION

Torrance State Hospital Environmental department needs a high energy, detailed-oriented individual to become a part of our team. We are looking for an individual who can follow directions well and follow our safety and cleaning guidelines. You will be required to work in secured buildings performing housekeeping duties.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role of housekeeping in Torrance State Hospital is to ensure that all areas, including examination and office rooms, patients' rooms, laboratories, and public areas are kept clean and sanitary. Common hospital housekeeping duties include mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping floors; cleaning windows and dusting furniture; and ensuring that all waste is disposed of properly. You will also empty trash cans, replace the supplies in bathrooms and move items around as needed. Refinishing floors and deep cleaning of rooms as needed. You will be required to stock clean linens and distribute linens where needed.

Your cleaning duties will require a lot of time standing, as well as a lot of time bending and lifting things, so being physically able to perform these tasks is essential. For your safety, it's important to wear the proper PPE, to know how to operate equipment properly, and to know how to use the proper cleaning supplies to avoid injuries.

Documentation of cleaning schedule will be done daily. Our staff takes pride in the work that they do, striving every day to give the patients and employees a clean place to live and work.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Rotating weekends, will work approximately every fourth weekend with days off during the week. Holidays are in rotation by seniority.
  • This position may require overtime and travel.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
