Position Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervisory oversight in the machining, assembly, finishing, cycle counting, shipping/receiving, warehouse and other related manufacturing areas. The key responsibility of the position is to ensure the timely and efficient production and delivery of quality pumps and related products through direct, coordinated supervision, using lean manufacturing techniques. This individual will be responsible for the cost-effective utilization of employee and capital resources and operating a group of manufacturing departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise production activity within the Machining Area, Assembly, Repair Services, Hardware, and IAS to achieve safety, quality, and delivery, cost, and productivity objectives daily.
- Accountable for the supervision of department employees, including the overall direction, mentoring, and training. Accomplish objectives by communicating job expectations to employees, including planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Hold direct reports accountable for their performance, and coach employees to initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
- Review specifications and procedures to organize methods and equipment, ensuring accurate and on-time delivery of high-quality products.
- Manage timecards, including points for direct reports, in a timely manner.
- Train employees and maintain the training matrix. Lead 30-60-90-day reviews for new employees.
- Collaborate with Union Stewards and HR to ensure effective communication and resolution of employee issues.
- Provide daily production reporting in a timely manner.
- Conduct daily Tier Meetings with employees to review metrics, safety, and provide daily direction.
- Conduct effective handoffs to supervisors on other shifts to ensure strong communication between shifts.
- Notify IT and management promptly of any IT downtime.
- Will work with and coordinate assigned activities with other departments, including Engineering, Sales, Customer Care, and Supply Chain.
- Participate in the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at reducing costs and improving productivity.
- Facilitate continuous improvement for assigned manufacturing departments.
- Prepare reports and be prepared to discuss with management the status of departmental and/ or individual metrics, workload and current projects.
- Prepare detailed work instructions and other controlled documents in accordance with ISO standards.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to repair and schedule manufacturing equipment as needed.
- Assist engineering in the development of new products and processes.
- Maintain a qualified workforce at the proper level to meet production schedules.
- Address safety concerns by ensuring employees use prescribed safe work methods and utilize proper safety equipment.
- Interface directly with other departments regarding problems and opportunities, identifying methods to enhance quality and ensure timely and efficient production and delivery.
- Assist in setting standards, work methods, and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to covering other manufacturing cells as needed.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years' experience supervising employees in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Excellent Supervisory skills; must be able to plan, organize, and schedule work among employees; prepare and evaluate department records and reports; communicate effectively with employees, management staff, and all other departments, as necessary.
- Basic Machining Skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with working in an ISO-regulated environment is preferred.
- Ability to multitask and perform in a dynamic environment while maintaining a positive attitude and energy.
- Strong team player, good work ethic, and ability to be flexible and work within a collaborative team environment to meet production and company needs.
