Job Title: Safety Inspector C
Location: Gulfport, MS

General Function

The Safety Inspector C is responsible for inspecting work areas and practices to ensure compliance with safety rules and objectives. This position prepares and maintains reports related to safety matters and operates under the general supervision of a Safety or Plant Manager.

Typical Duties

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

  • Instruct employees and supervisors on proper safety practices and techniques
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to established safety rules and procedures
  • Investigate employee complaints concerning unsafe working conditions
  • Respond to workplace safety or security emergencies
  • Inspect designated areas for fire-prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety-related provisions

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of federal and state safety, health, environmental, and workers compensation regulations
  • Good understanding of plant operations, or the ability to acquire such knowledge in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain accurate, current records and produce timely reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships across all employee levels

Experience & Training

  • Standard education supplemented by first-aid training
  • Prior experience in plant inspection or safety administration
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
