EHS & Sustainability Manager

Position Summary:

This role will be responsible for leading, in partnership with the site leadership, EHS compliance and sustainability programs for an assigned area. In this role, they will partner with resources across the business and use strong influencing skills to help ensure compliance with Methode and local regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the EHS and sustainability leadership in managing responses to customer sustainability requests.

  • Establish and administer EHS procedures and programs to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance at Methode locations in assigned area. As part of this responsibility, the person must be able to understand standards and be able to advise management on needed actions.

  • Partner with EHS globally to align with best management practices and standards.

  • Periodically evaluate EHS program gaps at each site in coordination with local managers.

  • Mentor sites in establishment of prioritized action plan to improve and sustain; and assist in tracking findings to resolution.

  • Manage and ensure the location EHS and sustainability data systems are in place and the data is reported correctly.

  • Provide periodic written reports on results and provide updates to management to apprise them of progress and of any critical issues.

  • Assist locations in implementation of effective employee safety awareness programs.

  • Assist local operations by providing direct assistance on routine EHS matters, with a specific emphasis on:

    • Coordinating the hazardous and universal waste management to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

    • Preparing and submitting required environmental permit applications/renewals and reporting to agencies.

    • Leading the hazard assessment processes, including JHA, ergonomic and PPE assessments. Educate engineering, maintenance, and production in conducting and updating assessments and associated improvements.

    • Providing management with guidance on short- and long-term EHS strategies to reduce incident frequency and severity.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to implement sustainable practices at facilities and within the value chain

  • Oversee data collection, validation, and analysis to support robust ESG metrics and KPIs

  • Ensure completion of required environmental permits, reports, inspections, and filings.

  • Other duties as assigned

NOTE: The base pay hiring rate expected for this position is: $94,500-$115,500 annually. This position is eligible to participate in an incentive plan.Metrics and level of participation are determined annually.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, safety, industrial hygiene, or related field

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS programs, including incident investigation, ergonomics, material handling safety, machine guarding, and waste management.

  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing methods and techniques

  • Knowledge of internal controls, strong leadership/team building skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all functions is required

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, strategic planning, and time management

  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including internal and external management staff

  • Proficient with Excel and Word

  • Ability to travel 25%

Squat or bend to perform various duties. Occasionally climb stairs.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
