Main Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking a proactive
and experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead the
maintenance and facility operations of our manufacturing site. This role is
responsible for the overall upkeep, performance, and safety of the facility
infrastructure, production equipment, machinery, and grounds. Key
responsibilities include managing maintenance personnel, overseeing preventive
and corrective maintenance programs, coordinating capital improvement projects,
and ensuring optimal equipment uptime to support production goals.
This leadership position
requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, team and
budget management, and a strategic mindset to drive continuous improvement
across facility and equipment operations.
Facility
& Equipment Maintenance
Oversee the maintenance and operation of all facility systems including HVAC, lighting, building infrastructure, grounds, and security systems.
Manage repair and maintenance of all production machinery and equipment, including CNC machines, plate product production lines, ovens, and utilities.
Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Monitor facility conditions and equipment performance; recommend upgrades, retrofits, or replacements to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Leadership
& Department Management
Lead, manage, and develop a team of maintenance professionals; ensure proper staffing, skills development, and performance management.
Prepare and manage departmental budgets, monitor maintenance costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising operational integrity.
Set departmental goals and metrics that align with overall plant and company objectives.
Foster a safety-first culture and enforce safe work practices in compliance with OSHA and internal safety policies.
Preventive
Maintenance & Scheduling
Develop, implement, and maintain an effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to minimize unplanned downtime.
Prioritize and schedule maintenance requests based on operational urgency and available resources.
Maintain accurate records of PM tasks, equipment histories, and repairs using a CMMS or other maintenance tracking system.
Cross-Functional
Collaboration & Capital Projects
Partner with plant leadership, engineering, and production teams to align maintenance strategies with manufacturing needs.
Support capital planning by contributing to feasibility studies, equipment selection, and layout design to ensure accessibility and maintainability.
Manage contractor relationships and oversee outsourced maintenance and facility service providers.
Continuous
Improvement & Compliance
Identify and lead initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reliability, and facility standards.
Oversee and support building inspections, regulatory compliance activities, and internal audits.
Ensure the facility presents a clean, safe, and professional appearance at all times.
Qualifications
Education
and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in facilities and equipment maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
At least 5 years in a leadership or management role, with proven success in supervising teams and managing maintenance operations.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and production systems.
Proficient in CMMS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and maintenance best practices.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
OSHA certification or similar safety credentials strongly preferred.
Physical
Requirements:
Ability to work in both office and industrial environments, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Physically able to inspect equipment and facilities, including climbing, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities with sound judgment.
