Position Summary:

The Purchasing Specialist provides purchasing support for effective sourcing and procurement of various parts, supplies and machinery.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Monitor supply inventory.
  • Provide purchasing support for capital equipment, material, construction, maintenance, chemicals, and other commodities ensuring compliance with company policy.
  • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and customers.
  • Assess quality control of vendor products.
  • Maintain Collins' business integrity and reputation in all transactions.
  • Facilitate purchasing transactions and processes in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) in accordance with company policies.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices as necessary to continue positive business relationships.
  • Receive and locate shipments by manually unloading or by using a forklift.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.


Required Skills and Abilities:



  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of sales, manufacturing, management personnel, technical personnel, and engineers.


Education and Experience:



  • Two (2) years of previous purchasing experience in the manufacturing sector; wood products manufacturing background preferred.
  • Experience using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred.


Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, a face shield, and/or a respirator.
