POSITION SUMMARY The role of the Quality Inspector I is to use basic inspection techniques and equipment to perform inspections on Machine Shop, Waterjet, & EDM products. This position successfully executes inspection strategies based on best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform First Article, In-Process, and Final inspections with assistance, when necessary.
- Perform incoming inspections on product received from Outside Processes.
- Inspect parts to print and models using various inspection techniques and equipment (Micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, etc.)
- Apply concepts to inspect products efficiently.
- Complete inspection reports and Customer Cert verification with assistance if necessary.
- Follow directions and perform general quality related tasks with assistance if necessary.
- Follow the Quality Management System and Procedures.
- Follow applicable Procedures and Work Instructions and offer ideas for improvement.
- Support all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Basic ability to utilize CMM, Optical Comparator, and Keyence Instant Measuring System.
- Fundamental understanding of GD&T.
- Basic knowledge of hand measurement tools & measurement equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Intermediate math skills.
- Strong record keeping skills.
- Strong organizations skills.
- Ability to problem solve.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required.
- A minimum of 2 years Inspection Experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF METAL FABRICATION AND/OR MACHINE SHOP PROCESSES PREFERRED.
- Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, inspection equipment and handle and feel parts of various size.
- Ability to bend, kneel and crouch occasionally throughout a shift.
- Ability to push, pull or lift 50 lbs moderately throughout a workday.
- Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp focus.
- Fast-paced environment
- Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
- Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- Moving mechanical parts and vibration
- Exposure to hot metal and machining components
WORK HOURS/TRAVEL
- 1st Shift Work Schedule: 5 - 8-hour shifts
- Overtime as necessary (including occasional weekends if needed)
