Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Access Team Clinician. The Access Team utilizes a highly structured team model to triage all prospective new and returning clients, of all ages, and are the first response to emergency calls and crisis walk-ins. The Access team collaborates with internal treatment teams and community partners to link individuals to the right treatment, services and supports. Clinicians on this team may provide coverage at alternate Johnson County Mental Health Center locations as well as in the community. First review of applications will begin on July 21st.

Johnson County has implemented a skill-based pay plan of up to $4200 annually for staff who have obtained licensure by the BSRB at the Clinical Level.



Job Description

Additional clinician duties include:

    Conducts comprehensive clinical assessments as a part of the diagnostic intake and JCMHC level of care process.
  • Crisis intervention and therapeutic sessions
  • Identifies and diagnoses substance use
    Assesses individual risk for suicide and other safety related concerns
  • Determines the need for medication evaluation and referral
  • Interprets and communicates relevant information to individuals, families, and other stakeholders
  • Responds to emergency or crisis related requests from individuals and/or agencies
  • Reviews and updates diagnosis and level of care when needed



Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Addition Counseling, or other Human Services field and Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure* at the master's level in the area of focus are required. May require a KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency.

*Applicants who meet Kansas licensure requirements may be considered if Kansas licensure is obtained by time of an employment offer and licensure is pending confirmation at the time of employment application.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements:

Kansas Behavioral Sciences license at the clinical level and one year of experience in the area of focus is preferred.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
