This role is part of Homesite's property pricing team in the Actuarial & Data Science department. The Property Pricing team is responsible for setting rates and implementing new initiatives in order to ensure profitable growth. Our goal is to offer a best-in-class Homeowners product for our customers, with precise segmentation and industry leading coverage offerings. You will report directly to the Actuary Senior Manager.

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations:
Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110

Position Compensation Range:

$61,000.00 - $101,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Complete the rate review and filing process and contribute to the pricing meetings to support the pricing strategy.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of enhancements to existing rate products, including the introduction of new rating variables.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of actuarial models to evaluate risk.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide insights and solutions to address specific business concerns.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Responsible for state rate level indication review and adjustments, including trending and adjusting premiums, losses and expenses.
  • Provide support of rate filings with state insurance departments; responds to and resolve regulatory questions.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Pursuing Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS or FCAS).
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of forecasting and statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of property and casualty products, pricing, rates and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%.

  • Work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

Additional preferred experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, GCP or other programming languages.
