This Position reports to:

Testing & Laboratory Manager

Your role and responsibilities:

Under general guidance of supervisor, the test engineer implements appropriate tests and automations to ensure compliance with design, validation, verification, and quality requirements. The Test Engineer will provide support for development efforts while ensuring protection of the test environment, including physical facility and staff. Performs various test engineering duties requiring the exercise of judgement and application of standard engineering principles and practices. Pursues initiatives to improve test efficiency and effectiveness of the test group to increase customer satisfaction.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Automate new and existing test processes to increase test reliability, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with automation engineer to perform LabVIEW and PLC programming to support the test and automation processes.
  • Provide technical testing support to power electronic designers. Coordinate and execute design testing programs for prototype/product verification plans in cooperation with development engineers and project management.
  • Maintain and use test specifications to test products and prototypes. Be able to interpret results to verify that performance matches requirements. Check reasonableness, prepare, and present test reports and maintain records.
  • Perform certification testing to UL, CSA, and IEC standards and create test reports for UL, CSA, SGS and/or other third-party certifying bodies. External business trip to third party test facilities is a requirement and may involve both local and international travel.
  • Identify current test process gaps and implement reliable and more robust solutions.
  • Document test programs, setups and processes including programming methodology for future reference.
  • Participate in 3rd party test certification audits and certify automation test processes for compliance to ISO17025 as required.
  • Maintain current and new test systems to prevent downtime.
  • Construct test setups and fixtures requiring mechanical construction and electrical wiring from design engineer specifications.
  • Support software updates and hardware upgrades to keep lab computers and test equipment current and functioning properly.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering with 1-year of demonstrated test and automation accomplishments.
  • Knowledge and experience with UL, CSA and IEC standards
  • Knowledge in NI LabVIEW programming, PLC programming, AutoCAD, PSIM, PADS, MS Office, and drive communication protocols such as Modbus, DeviceNet and Profibus.
  • Travel required, as needed, to support project test needs.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
