Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Division School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Medicine Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist with the instruction of students taking laboratory courses with the MLS Division (including but not limited to demonstrating proper lab techniques; preparing and grading assignments; assessing student performance by observation; assisting with the daily set-up of the laboratory; and proctoring lab practicals). In addition, the individual will assist with the coordination of the laboratory safety program, documents safety compliance, and inventory/ordering of supplies; and assists the MLS Division with student recruitment activities and strategic plan initiatives (such as the development of teaching tools/activities to enhance student learning). Teaching will take place autumn semester 2025 (August 26 December 18, 2025), with the potential for extension or evolution of the position.

Performance Objectives
  • Actively trains students in the laboratory.
  • Assists with daily set-up of the student laboratory, supply inventory and safety program
  • Meets regularly with the primary instructor, Program Director, and Division Director, as needed.
  • Attends faculty meetings.
  • Assists with student recruitment and strategic plan initiatives.
Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Bachelors degree in medical laboratory science and active ASCP or equivalent certification in medical laboratory science

Desired: Experience in laboratory instruction and coordination, equipment maintenance, supply management and laboratory safety and compliance.
