Together We Grow - One Mission, One Team - With a Commitment to Serve Scope of Work: The Stationary Engineer operates all aspects of the central heating and cooling plants. The ongoing operations include reading, interpreting, adjusting, and maintenance of the plant and its equipment. Responsibilities:
- Duties involves high temperature, hot water, natural gas, oil fired boiler units, and plant operations.
- Maintenance with water chemical composure, dosing procedures for both heating chilled water plants and remote boilers.
- Serves as shift operator in charge of an oil (or gas) fired Hot Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) plant on a regular recurring basis.
- Responsible for overall plant operating parameters/outputs, as well as minor maintenance for all equipment within the plant.
- Maintains proper pressures and flow rates, bringing additional boilers online as required.
- Accomplishes timely shutdowns of equipment and makes proper notifications to prevent loss of damage to property or to perform a scheduled preventive maintenance.
- Schedules rounds within the plant, records all required data in proper logs, sounds tanks and coordinates with fuel delivery personnel.
- Follows all emergency operation procedures and reports any require deviations.
- Responsible for overall cleanliness and security/access of plant spaces.
- May be scheduled for 12-hour shift coverage.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have working knowledge of chilled water producing plants, its equipment and distribution systems.
- Must be capable of operating more than one system concurrently and know the maintenance and operation of various remote boiler systems, including their chemistry as prescribed for proper operation.
- Must obtain a National Institute Uniform Licensing of Power Engineer (NIULPE) within six months of hire date and maintain thereafter.
- Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
- Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
- Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors environments. Some work is performed with exposure to low to loud noise level; frequent fieldwork is required with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and the external environment; tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces and the use of ladders or other safety equipment to gain access to hard-to-reach locations; some work is performed in crawl spaces, attics or on rooftops. Some work may require exposure to dust, particulates, unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances and high voltage.
- Duties require on a continuous basis to sit, stand, bend, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist for varying periods in the course of work; use hands and fingers to grasp tools; make repetitive hand and body motions; twist and reach below and above shoulder; lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; to communicate with co-workers using a two-way radio; use telephone, and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means; see in the normal vision range with or without correction to read computer screen, blueprints, and drafting plans; hear in the normal range with or without correction.
