Summary:
Full Stack Developer (Angular + Java Spring Boot)
We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Developer to support the rewrite of the Project Portfolio Database (PPD) application and the development of a new time tracking module within it. This role involves building and maintaining scalable, n-tiered applications using modern Angular and Java Spring Boot. The ideal candidate will also bring experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and a working knowledge of the Cloud App Factory (CAF) to help guide cloud-native architecture and deployment.
Developer is to design and build back-end services that support our portfolio of data-centric clinical and analytic applications. These applications leverage cloud computing, big data, mobile, data science, data warehousing, machine learning using state of the art software development applications and frameworks. Our Software Engineers ensures that these cloud-based micro-services adhere to uptime and accuracy targets, are resilient, and scale as data volumes and traffic increase. They work closely with the data engineering, platform, and solutions teams to develop applications as required to benefit our practice and patients.
About the Project
The PPD application is a centralized tool used to manage and track research projects, resources, and timelines within the organization. It supports project lifecycle visibility, reporting, and strategic planning. The rewrite aims to modernize the platform for improved performance, usability, and integration with new modules-starting with a time tracking feature to enhance operational transparency and resource management.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications as part of the PPD modernization effort.
- Build responsive, high-performance UI components using Angular, TypeScript, and NgRx/Redux.
- Develop RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and integrate them with front-end applications.
- Implement secure authentication using OAuth 2.0 and protect API endpoints.
- Design and optimize database schemas in PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, and other relational databases.
- Manage database versioning and migrations with Liquibase.
- Write unit and integration tests for both front-end (Jasmine/Karma) and back-end (JUnit).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
- Apply GCP best practices and align development with Cloud App Factory principles.
- Use Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure as code.
- Works closely with the Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects to translate requirements into code.
- Developing services around data warehousing, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence, analytics and machine learning.
- Participate in DevOps, Agile, continuous development and integration frameworks.
- Programming in high-level languages such as Go, Python, Java etc.
- Work on deployment automation/configuration management with tools including but not limited to ADO, Puppet, Chef or Ansible or Azure Pipelines, CloudFormation, Terraform following a DevOps model.
- Ensure all appropriate documentation of processes and source code is created and maintained.
- Communicate effectively with peers, leaders, and customers throughout the organization.
- Participate in expert level troubleshooting and resolve problems through root cause analysis, data and system investigation.
- Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers.

Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with Agile software development techniques.
- Experience with modern application development frameworks.
- Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
- Possesses strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Deep hands-on technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Frontend
- Angular (latest versions), TypeScript, NgRx/Redux
- CSS/SCSS for responsive UI development
Backend
- Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA
- Maven for build automation
- REST API development, Swagger for documentation
- OAuth 2.0 authentication
Database
- PostgreSQL (primary), MS SQL Server (nice to have)
- JDBC, query optimization
- Liquibase for database migrations
Cloud & DevOps
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
- Familiarity with Cloud App Factory and CI/CD pipeline experience is a plus
Testing & Best Practices
- Unit testing with JUnit and Jasmine/Karma
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of design patterns and software development best practices
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.
- Experience with Google and Azure cloud environments.
- Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products.
- Experience with building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.
- Experience developing software for healthcare related industries.

Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field OR
- Associates' degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
Compensation:
Hourly W2 pay rate $70.00 to $75.00/hour
