The Director of Origination manages and oversees a team of individuals focused on PPA opportunities for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and storage for Commercial and Industrial clients (C&I). The Director of Origination leads the ongoing effort to close new renewable energy power purchase transactions across North America each year with a C&I client focus. This position collaborates directly with the Executive Team in creating the company's commercial strategy and reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Origination. This role will allow the employee to develop innovative products for C&I clients.
Experience with the following is a must: Contracting utility-scale wind, solar or storage projects. Experience with C&I customers; existing solid relationships with large C&I customers. An entrepreneurial spirit, a strong work ethic, and a fundamental drive to advance decarbonization efforts will help you stand out as a candidate.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Directly manage a team of Originators dedicated to seeking C&I PPAs.
- Lead PPA sourcing, structuring and negotiation.
- Develop and manage key C&I customer relationships.
- Coordinate with Executive Team on commercial strategy.
- Provide commercial support on tax equity, cash equity, and M&A transactions.
- Oversee the RFP response process.
- Oversee the Origination internal reporting requirements.
- Project manage cross-functional teams to execute product offerings and proposals
- Evaluate market conditions, customer feedback, and regulatory landscapes to capitalize on new opportunities and adapt strategies accordingly
- Communicate key deal points and present recommendations to Executive Team
- Travel to customer meetings and relevant industry conferences
- Provide input into the business plan and origination strategy
- Additional duties as required.

Travel: up to 40%, includes potential international travel and last-minute travel
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, or related field. Graduate degree preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible management experience in the renewable energy industry
- Experience contracting utility-scale wind, solar, or storage projects
- Experience with C&I customers
- Ability to manage and lead a team with proven experience
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Ability to quickly understand a variety of subjects relating to renewable energy generation and storage assets, including financial models, energy market rules and regulations, resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, physical transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering

- Ability to travel extensively by plane and by car and with short notice
