Function: Environmental, Health & Safety
Job Summary:This position reports to the EHS Manager and provides technical environmental support on air, water and waste issues as requested. The position is a subject matter expert in the environmental field in at least one media (air, water, waste). Job responsibilities include maintaining compliance with all Federal/state/local environmental regulations and company best practices, permits, procedures and policies. Position will work with affected departments to improve programs and processes and validate effectiveness.
Job Description:
- Monitoring support of all environmental aspects of the plant to maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
- Responsible for managing, reviewing, and understanding the site's key environmental data.
- Serve as a key resource to the site to address daily environmental concerns and works closely with affected departments in monitoring daily parameters to ensure compliance.
- Prepare environmental permit applications (air, water, etc.) and environmental reports (Air Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, Tier II Chemical Inventories, Title V Compliance, etc.)
- Responsible to ensure compliance of the site's Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC Plan), NPDES Permit, and the Title V Air Permit as required.
- Develop, update, and implement environmental compliance programs/procedures. Regularly review existing programs/procedures for effectiveness and update accordingly.
- Represent environmental aspects in cross-functional efforts such as PSM, audits, incident investigations, and engineering projects.
- Participate in training, stack testing and working with outside services as necessary to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Management, or similar science/engineering degree is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of environmental compliance experience is desired, such as experience within industry, consulting, or in a regulatory role.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, and the application of pollutant abatement processes, equipment, and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of general occupational safety, process safety, and hazardous materials.
- Position is expected to make independent decisions requiring specialized environmental technical knowledge within established boundaries.
- Position must be able to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with peers, leadership, and with external regulatory agencies.
- Position must be able to work independently to prioritize workload and responsibilities based on organizational and customer requirements.
- Position should have the ability to influence peers and cross-functional teams to effectively implement policies, programs, and procedures.
- Experience with electronic tools/systems, including continuous emissions monitoring systems and environmental reporting systems.
- Strong skills with Microsoft business products, e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.
