Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The University of North Carolina Wilmington Athletics Department is seeking applicants for the position of Head Dance Coach. This is a temporary part-time, 11 month position (August 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026) with evening and weekend hours. The Head Dance Coach will be responsible for supervising and directing the cheerleading program for men's and women's basketball games and other campus/community events.

This role of the Dance Coach will be:
* Serving as an athletic instructor by teaching proper techniques and skill development which includes safety to squad members
* Developing and choreographing dance routines
* Coordinating squad activities including practices, squad work-outs, and community and/or university events
* Serving as a role model for the squad members through exhibiting ethical and professional conduct
* Clearly communicate and enforce the rules of the squad members
* Evaluating and recruiting athletically and academically qualified squad members
* Working with the sports marketing team to establish game day atmosphere/traditions
* Be committed to the academic and athletic development of all squad members and adhere to and support all university, CAA, and NCAA policies and procedures
* Occasional travel for CAA and NCAA Tournament games
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with three years of college, high school, and/or private cheer instruction experience

Demonstrated experience in the technical aspect of the sport
* Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective relationships with student, coaches, and the university community

* Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends

* Must possess and maintain a current driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record while serving in the position
