The REACH Student Success Office is seeking applications for the position of a temporary Student Success Coach.

About the Opportunity

This role involves providing personalized academic support to current WVU students, focusing on essential skills for collegiate success. This position supports retention and persistence rates. This position is projected to start in August and end in May (8/7/25 through 5/1/26).

What You'll Do



  • Meet with current WVU students to provide academic support aimed at fostering a students' academic growth and maintain in-person Office Hours.
  • Educate undergraduate students about skills needed for success by utilizing positive coaching strategies.
  • Effectively assist students in developing study skills and academic success strategies related to time management, note taking skills, test prep, etc.
  • Assist students in applying their Clifton Strengths to their academic skills
  • Facilitate group workshops as well as teach academic skills in a variety of workshops.
  • Engage undergraduate students in active, collaborative learning experiences.
  • Address various audiences, including students, faculty, and parents.
  • Assist with a variety of on campus events such as recruitment events, Welcome Week, New Student Orientation, and academic workshops.
  • Participate in the Early Alert Program, Mid-Semester Grade Interventions and other undergraduate student programming.
  • Additional duties as assigned


Pay Grade: 15

Work Hours: 35 Hours per Week

Length of Assignment: 8.5 Months

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



  • Works well in a team-oriented setting while also thriving under minimal supervision


  • Familiarity with WVU's resources and ability to connect students to those resources


  • Proficiency in using CRM products such as Navigate


  • Ability to send out appointment campaigns and summarize notes using the CRM



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience working in higher education and/or working with young adults
