Job Purpose The Procurement Engineer oversees the purchasing of technical goods and services primarily used for New Product Development for Hyliion. The Procurement Engineer has very detailed knowledge of the equipment, materials, and supplies used in Hyliion processes, systems, and components. They will be responsible for evaluating suppliers and negotiating purchase agreements with them, as well as maintaining the inventory of supplies Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent Supply Chain with Design & Development teams. Promote preferred or approved suppliers for future production needs.
- Rapid sourcing of prototype items, leveraging knowledge of drawings & technical specifications, enabling timely New Product Introduction support.
- Strategic & Tactical owner for New Product Introduction supply chain activities, ensuring rapid protypes & controlled transition to production suppliers.
- Assist in defining & promoting commodity strategies for key areas of influenceable spend.
- Develop resolution of technical challenges disrupting new part or new product builds, supplier quoting, or special process requirements (plating, painting, etc)
- Develop and tactically manage NPI focused suppliers specific to quick turns or similar rapid prototyping
- Respond to departmental engineering inquiries, including interpreting engineering specifications and generating strategies for project/system. Bring in 3rd party expertise as needed.
- Develop procedures and procedure revisions in support of program implementation
- Provide leadership and coordination of engineering projects, and assist in the establishment of knowledge, experience, and programs required for the effective implementation of such projects
- Collaborate with department management to resolve issues relating to high-visibility engineering activities
- Provide presentations and information to senior management on a regular basis to communicate the status and performance
- Resolve and/or escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in a timely fashion

- Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of related experience, preferably in an industrial or similar manufacturing environment
- Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated capability in procurement and new product introduction programs
- Must be able to apply sound engineering judgement and professional rigor in the performance of all analyses and assigned tasks
- The ability to understand basic engineering principles and problem-solving techniques is required
- Ability to take direction and function as a team member to solve a variety of engineering problems in the applicable discipline
- Strong tenacity to tackle complex sourcing challenges quickly and effectively
- Self-starter with ability to independently drive key workstreams through to outcomes
Role Classification and Working Conditions This is a salaried, exempt-level position. This position typically works in an office environment; and given the nature of our business is also exposed to operations/warehouses/production environments. Physical/Other Requirements
