The Department of Human Performance at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Temporary Speech Language Pathologist in the School of Medicine.

About the Opportunity

Speech language pathologists who will diagnose, assess, and treat communication disorders, including speech, fluency, language, voice and swallowing disorders alongside our clinical faculty within the academic out-patient setting.

What You'll Do



  • Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders
  • Treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders
  • Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals
  • Work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines
  • Assess, diagnose and treat communication disorders such as speech, fluency, language, voice and swallowing disorders
  • Develop, plan and implement a treatment plan that will remedy the issue the patient is presenting with
  • Create personalized care plans for each patient, often working with other medical staff on an interdisciplinary team
  • Educate and counsel patients and families on communication and swallowing disorders.


Length of Assignment: Approximately 7 months

Work Hours: 8 Hours per week

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving:

    • Clinical experience as a speech language pathologist.


  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Requirements

  • West Virginia Speech-Language Pathology license
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
