About the Motor Vehicle Operator - Light position:

This Motor Vehicle Operator - Light (MVO-Light) position is a temporary employment appointment within the Transportation Services Department. This position will drive light duty vehicles in need of fueling, cleaning, and parking. They will relocate vehicles for orderly storage or order of dispatch when parking vehicles. This position will be driving through city and highway traffic and independently determine routing to various locations as needed.

About the Transportation Services Department:

This position is a part of our Transportation department within the Facilities Planning and Management Division at UW-Madison. The Master Technician is one of the lead technician positions at the shop. This person will be diagnosing and repairing many items that come through the shop. This position acts as a guiding knowledge to other technicians with diagnosis and repairs. They will be mostly working on heavy trucks and equipment but may have to work on smaller assets as needed. They will also go on service calls and fix equipment in the field. This position may assist with snow removal during the winter season if needed.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles daily based on established requirements
  • Picks up and delivers freight to and from internal and external affiliates as directed
  • Identifies and reports damaged equipment and products to the appropriate entities
  • Operates vehicles and other equipment; and navigates vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic in congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and parking lots

$18.00 Hourly

The hourly rate for this position is $18.00
