Note for Salary

This is the starting salary for this postion. This position offers biannual pay increases for employees that are satisfactorily progressing towards qualification, meeting the company's expectations and standards, and adhering to workplace policies. The maximum pay rate is typically achieved at the career level within two to three years.

Job Family Description

Laboratory support personnel assist engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks and perform a variety of laboratory support functions. They perform chemical and/or physical analyses, support production operations, and support technical laboratory functions, including sampling, data recording and analysis, reporting, and the development of analytical methods.

Discipline Description

Laboratory technicians assist engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks. Laboratory technicians can directly support production operations required to comply with internal and external standards in the performance of their work. They collect, analyze and process laboratory samples. They record results of tests, organize data, perform basic computations, and prepare reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

- Routine equipment rounds
- Utilizing Standard Operating Procedures to perform Wet Chemistry and other Analytical Chemistry methods utilizing:
o Balance
o Pipette
o Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC)
o Calorimetry
o Mass Spectrometry
- Understand, transcribe, and communicate critical information within analytical reports.
- Collaborate with BSRA Chemists and other Facility personnel to achieve the SRTE Mission.
- Provide equipment / sample status turnover at the end of shift.

Required Qualifications

* Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent State Credential
* Candidates must have completed ACT WorkKeys Assessment and achieved minimum scores of 3 in Applied Math, 3 in Graphic Literacy, 4 in Workplace Documents, and 2 in Workplace Observation
* Test scores must be within the last five years. (Official documentation must be provided to the company for consideration of employment. Results must be uploaded into BrassRing on the ATTACHMENTS page at the time the application is submitted online).

We'd Also Like to See

Experience in complex industrial or nuclear facility preferred. Experience working with mass spectrometer (MS), calorimeter, and/or performing wet chemistry analysis. College level courses in chemistry and/or mathematics.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
