How you'll make an impact:

As a member of the Engineering group at SiriusXM Connect (SXMC) you will be joining a team of engineers responsible for support and development of SXMC software and products related to our Subscription, Billing and Payment team.

The Engineer III will primarily be responsible for deploying, maintaining and supporting software to ensure that our services work as intended. This position will be a part of an Agile software development team. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a cooperative manner with software engineers, product and program managers.

What you will do:

* Fulfill the role of a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) by ensuring the reliability and performance of AWS Cloud-based software and infrastructure related to our Subscription, Billing and Payment services.

* Design and implement robust monitoring and alerting solutions.

* Deploy and maintain software and infrastructure using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions and AWS CloudFormation.

* Serve as administrator for our Zuora (a third party billing service) pre-production and production environments. This includes maintaining and occasionally writing Zuora-specific script-based workflows. Monitoring other 3rd party services will also be required.

* Work with a highly collaborative group of engineers in an Agile organization.

* Contribute to a healthy engineering and operations culture while utilizing best practices.

* Contribute to high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions.

* Strive to develop simple solutions to complex problems.

* Ensure team-wide code quality by contributing to team-based code reviews and PR feedback.

* Exhibit accountability at both a personal and team level.

* Author and provide feedback on technical proposals and root cause analyses.

* Participate in maintenance and troubleshooting as well as a team-based on-call rotation.

What you'll need:

* BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or technically related field required; equivalent experience and/or degrees in other technical fields will be considered.

* 2+ years of system administration or software development experience.

* Strong technical knowledge of how to deploy, manage and monitor highly available Cloud-based services; AWS Cloud strongly preferred.

* Experience with subscription, billing, tax and similar services preferred. Examples include Zuora, Stripe and Avalara.

* Working knowledge of Java, Python or other programming languages. Tasks related to scripting will be required, and opportunities to contribute as a developer outside of administrator duties will be possible.

* Strong ability to identify performance bottlenecks that meet best in class target performance.

* Strong comprehension of high availability, multi-tier, mission critical and fault-tolerant system design.

* Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the use of source control, CI/CD and various testing approaches.

* Pragmatic approach to weighing engineering tradeoffs versus business needs.

* Accountability and a sense of extreme ownership that doesn't end after the system is deployed to production.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Willingness to learn new technologies - often very quickly.

* Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
