Job SummaryResponsible for performing activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of databases including availability, performance, and security. Administers and controls the activities related to operational data management. Works collaboratively to establish policies and procedures to support availability, security, audit, and performance.As a Database Administrator you will perform the following essential functions.... *Manages technical projects in the database group, database design, creation and maintenance. *Provides research on new technology and leads innovation for group *Leads research, planning and implementation of new database installations, upgrades and patches. *Manages database design, creation, and maintenance to ensure required database performance while ensuring proper security policies and procedures are in place and enforced. *Performs performance tuning, capacity planning, and back-up/recovery activities *Supports application deployments along with develops scripting of database changes for large deployments as required to automate processes. *Facilitates root cause analysis and postmortems on database incidents *Utilizes proper change control and change management procedures for database changes within the environment. *Gathers requirements for a database installation. Supports processes to register the installation and license in the CMDB. *Controls and monitors user access to the database. Coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard the database. Establishes and reviews database audit records to confirm compliance with policies. Configures encryption on database objects. *Develops and executes scripts to support deployments. Develops and performs complex deployments. *Participates with requirements gathering for DR scenario planning. Develops scripts and scenarios for annual DR exercises with review by a more senior database administrator. *Uses standard/custom developed scripts and various monitoring tools to identify application performance issues. Collaborates with application designers/developers to identify and deploy database changes to improve performance. Leverages operating environment and network performance into analysis. *Configures, tests, and deploys high availability capabilities. *Maintains technical documentation relating to database management *Works closely with application project and systems teams on all issues related to databases. *Frequently serves as team lead on multiple projects, often spanning different technology disciplines within the organization. *Works on unusually complex DBMS application problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. *Responsible for 7x24 production support. Job Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, related engineering discipline or equivalent experience required. *Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, including Microsoft SQL design and implementation in a large-scale environment. *Minimum of 3 years in High Availability (Clustering, Always-On). *Requires good oral and written communication skills to interact with both, internal and external customers. *Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive monitoring and problem solving. *Experience with high availability, standby, backup and recovery, large database management, and partitioning. *Experience with database management, monitoring and tuning tools. *Must be a high energy team player with a positive working attitude and posses' good documentation skills. *After hours system support (on call). Bachelor's Degree and/or 4 - 7 years of related experience OR High School Diploma or GED with 5-10 years of related experience. * Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, related engineering discipline or equivalent experience required. * IT experience, including Microsoft SQL design and implementation in a large-scale environment. * Advanced knowledge of database concepts, performance tuning, proactive monitoring and problem solving. * Experience with high availability (Clustering, Always-On), standby, backup and recovery, large database management, and partitioning. * Experience with database management, monitoring and tuning tools. * After hours system support (on call).
