Job Description

This role is based in Chicago, IL.

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with expertise in crafting high-quality user stories for our Scrum development team. In this role, you will serve as the critical bridge between stakeholders and development teams, translating business requirements and design specifications into clear, actionable user stories that drive our agile development process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and design specifications
  • Transform complex requirements into well-structured user stories following our established checklist methodology
  • Ensure all user stories are complete, consistent, and adhere to INVEST principles (Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, Testable)
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions and workshops with business stakeholders
  • Work within Scrum teams to clarify requirements and answer questions during sprint planning and execution
  • Maintain and refine the product backlog in collaboration with Product Owners
  • Create and maintain documentation related to business processes and requirements
  • Validate that completed user stories meet the defined acceptance criteria
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies including planning, review, and retrospective meetings
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Proven track record of writing clear, comprehensive user stories
  • Strong understanding of Scrum methodology and agile principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience using agile project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • SQL knowledge and experience querying databases
  • Experience with business process modeling and documentation
  • Knowledge of user experience (UX) design principles
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle
  • Experience in the foodservice industry sector

User Story Checklist Expertise

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in ensuring user stories consistently include:

  • Clear user role/persona identification
  • Specific, measurable action components
  • Defined business value statements
  • Comprehensive acceptance criteria
  • Technical considerations and dependencies
  • Appropriate priority and effort estimations
  • Relevant mockups or wireframes references
  • Test scenarios aligned with acceptance criteria
