Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Specialist supporting TOS II, at AEDC in Arnold AFB, TN. The individual will be working as a member of the Engineering Solutions branch responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The Engineering Solutions branch performs cutting edge technology development work in support of the National Defense Strategy.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will function as a technical specialist supporting the Instrumentation & Diagnostics group in the development of specialized instrumentation & diagnostics systems. The candidate will haves the ability and knowledge to create and maintain Work Instructions, System Safety Hazard Analyses (SSHAs), and other corresponding documentation. The candidate will have basic computer skills, a thorough understanding of the AEDC Safety process, and assist the 804th TG/TDA AF personnel with required project documentation. The candidate will also be responsible for creating and maintaining drawings for TDA I&D systems and components. The working environment is highly dynamic and will require managing several different tasks simultaneously. This position will be surrounded with a staff of technicians and engineers/physicists of varying disciplines/degrees, so the ability to effectively work and communicate with others is critical.

Job Duties:

    Independently and under the direction of the principal engineer(s), create and maintain work instructions and SSHAs for the various systems in TDA.
  • Maintain the Content Management System for the TAPS program
  • Create and maintain drawings for TDA systems and components
  • Ensure systems are calibrated and traceable to calibration and data quality standards
  • Monitor and report progress for own assigned work tasks to the project engineer and/or project control account manager (CAM)
  • Work a temporary altered schedule as needed to support tests
  • Wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Any equivalent combination of relevant education and specialized experience in working with instrumentation for a minimum total of ten (10) years
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network
  • Due to Air Force Security requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently to accomplish complex tasks required to configure and validate instrumentation, controls, measurement, and recording equipment during test operations.
  • Experience using instrumentation such as Multi Gas Analyzers, lasers, and Electro-Optical systems and components
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with AEDC specific systems and processes to include Enovia and Process Director
  • Experience with AEDC facilities that specifically support TDA to include the Propulsion Research Facility (PRF) and the High Speed Fan Facility (HSFF)
  • Experience with LabVIEW
  • Experience with Inventor/AutoCAD
  • Active Secret Security Clearnce
