Description
We are seeking a mission-driven Deputy Program Manager (DPM) focused on delivering critical systems to support a high-profile space payload. This role is ideal for a systems-minded leader with strong experience in Earned Value Management (EVM) and program performance tracking across complex hardware, engineering, business operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and test teams. The DPM will work closely with the Program Manager to drive execution excellence across engineering, manufacturing, integration, and test, while maintaining tight control over cost, schedule, performance, and risk in a technically rigorous environment. On any given day, the selected candidate may be asked to:
- Serve as a key operational partner to the Program Manager, supporting day-to-day execution.
- Support monitoring and management of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) artifacts and processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in cost and schedule reporting.
- Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost, schedule, technical performance, and risk.
- Coordinate across a multi-disciplinary team including engineering, business operations, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and test.
- Drive timely decision-making and remove blockers to maintain delivery momentum.
- Support risk and opportunity management activities, including identification, mitigation, and regular tracking.
- Facilitate customer interactions, internal reviews, and milestone readiness assessments.
- Support the development of programmatic deliverables including program plans, status reports, and contract data requirements (CDRLs).
- Ensure adherence to company and customer standards, including technical baseline and change control processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, aerospace, finance management, or business.
- 5 years' experience in program management or engineering leadership in aerospace, defense, or complex hardware systems.
- 3 years' experience supporting or managing programs using EVM.
- Familiarity with space-grade hardware development.
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in program management in aerospace, defense, or complex hardware systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical inputs into actionable programmatic decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate across diverse technical teams.
- PMP, DAU Program Management certifications, or equivalent.
- Experience with laser communication systems or other optical space payloads.
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools and processes, including requirements tracking and interface control.
- Experience delivering hardware involving opto-mechanical, embedded, or high-reliability systems.
- Current & active DoD security clearance, or equivalent.
Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 The BlueHalo pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.
