Overview

Are you organized, compassionate, and ready to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients? Illinois CancerCare is looking for a full-time Scheduler to join our dedicated New Patient Scheduling team. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:30pm) role with no weekends, or major holidays, offering a great work-life balance.

The New Patient Scheduler is primarily responsible for providing a smooth and welcoming process for new patients by scheduling initial appointments and coordinating essential details. You'll also communicate important information to referring providers and internal staff to ensure seamless care coordination from day one.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Schedule new patients and returning patients with a new or recurring diagnosis within 3-5 days with the appropriate specialty physician.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff for all specialty clinics supported by ILCC internal & external to the practice that NPT scheduling processes are performed
  • Communicate all appointment details to the referring provider and patient.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation and maintain open communication.
  • Perform any other scheduler duties as needed or assigned

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment
  • Comfortable with EMR systems and HIPAA compliance
  • Experience with scheduling software and medical terminology
  • Ability to stay calm and compassionate under pressure
  • Team player with a positive attitude

Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time. Involves contact with patients and public.
