OVERVIEW

Assists engineers in the planning, design, development, fabrication, and testing of products, equipment, and processes for the Less Lethal product line. Uses engineering tools (CAD, engineering analysis, prototype fabrication techniques) to develop and test products from concept to production. Collect and prepare data for use in proposals. Design manufacturing process to meet cost, quality, safety, and schedule requirements. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for both in house and vendor processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Work closely with Engineers on developmental projects and produce prototype samples of varying degrees of complexity and material types
  • Assist in product testing and recording data
  • Analyze and evaluate results during and after product testing
  • Provide interactive feedback to engineering team on samples and/or issues
  • Compile testing data and reports - Conduct machine maintenance, as required
  • Act as product liaison between development and manufacturing
  • Support ISO 9001 QMS
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as required or assigned



QUALIFICATIONS




  • 0-3+ years' experience as an engineering technician in supporting mechanical design engineering efforts in a hands-on product development, manufacturing, or test and evaluation environment
  • CAD and/or Solid Works experience
  • Machining /fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment and procedures
  • Proficient in various machine operations
  • Experience with experimental data and writing technical reports
  • Good understanding of fundamental engineering and physical principles
  • Comfortable with firearms and explosives - Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel)
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum support from engineers
  • Must be mechanically inclined and capable of constructing/modifying test fixtures utilizing standard electrical tools
  • Familiar with set-up and operation of instrumentation and data acquisition systems in support of product testing
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks - Knowledge of CNC milling is a plus
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • Vocational training and/or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education
  • **Employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.**
