We are currently hiring a full-time Material & Production Planner in Milton, DE.
The Material & Production Planner is responsible for short- and long-term planning, scheduling, and ordering to support brewing and packaging operations in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This role develops production schedules based on current demand, manages inventory levels of ingredients and materials, and leads continuous improvement initiatives aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs). The planner collaborates closely with Brewery Operations, the BBC Supply Chain team, key vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient daily operations and consistent fulfillment of customer needs.
What You'll Brew:
Production Scheduling:
- In coordination with Supply Planning, use SAP MRP to convert planned process/production orders into executable weekly and daily production schedules.
- Coordinate with Brewing, Packaging, Warehouse, Quality, and Maintenance teams to align production plans with operational capabilities.
- Adjust schedules as needed for equipment downtime, ingredient and packaging material availability, or changes in demand.
- Organize and lead weekly scheduling meetings with all internal stakeholders.
- Partner with the Supply Planner to smooth production, minimize out-of-stocks, and communicate unavoidable shortages in a timely manner.
- Ensure the availability of brewing and packaging materials to meet production schedules.
- Maintain Schedule Adherence Data
Ingredient/Material Planning:
- Work with Material and Inventory planners for raw material and packaging material forecasts based on production schedules.
- Create and manage Purchase Orders in SAP based on purchase requirements and confirm delivery dates with vendors.
- Generate Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) for materials from other BBC plants and third-party storage partners as needed.
- Communicate regularly with vendors and carriers to maintain strong working relationships and resolve transportation issues collaboratively.
- Monitor vendor delivery timing against production schedules to ensure alignment.
- Process returns authorizations for defective materials in SAP to ensure proper credit.
- Track inventory levels at the brewery and external storage facilities for overflow brewing and packaging materials.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Brand and Design teams on upcoming new brands and artwork changes to ensure smooth transitions within agreed timelines.
- Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing discrepancies and ensure accurate credits.
- Work with warehouse team to resolve receiving discrepancies.
- Maintain open communication with Procurement to address purchasing challenges and ensure vendor master data is accurate and as well as material master data and pricing.
Other Responsibilities
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scheduling accuracy and reduce waste.
- Participate in root cause analysis for production delays or material shortages.
- Ensure MRP data remains up to date and accurate.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant manufacturing and production planning experience with working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP Preferred)
- Proficient with Computer Skills; Microsoft Office, strong MS Excel skills, plus familiarity with MS Word, MS PowerPoint
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills
- Ability to work with all levels of management in multi-functional departments
- Ability to perform duties with minimal direction
- Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Self-starter, proactive

Level: 7
At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $50,500 and $100,000. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
