We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Journeyman Systems Administrator with a strong Linux background to join our team. This individual will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux and Windows-based systems in a secure environment. The candidate will possess a Security+ certification and active Secret clearance, with a preference for Top Secret clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility. Experience with Special Access Programs (SAP) within the last three years is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers and workstations.
- Perform system hardening and security audits to ensure compliance with established security policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Implement and maintain system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash, Python).
- Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure system stability and availability.
- Provide technical support to end-users.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in systems administration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and procedures.
Qualifications Required:
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Active Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret/SCI with SAP eligibility preferred)
- 3+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Working knowledge of Windows server administration.
- Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning.
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python preferred).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility
- Experience with Special Access Programs (SAP) within the last 3 years.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required.
