Together We Grow - One Mission, One Team - With a Commitment to Serve Scope of Work: The Small Engine Mechanic repairs fractional-horsepower gasoline engines. Responsibilities:
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs to fractional-horsepower gasoline engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, and similar machines.
- Uses hand tools to locate causes of trouble, dismantle engines, and examine parts for defects.
- Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings.
- Cleans and adjusts carburetor and magneto.
- Starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have practical working experience with fractional-horsepower gasoline engines.
- Must be able to understand written and oral instructions to perform the required tasks.
- Electrical Generator Systems Certification or formal generator training is preferred however demonstrated experience can be substituted in lieu of certification or formal training.
- OSHA 10 Hour or 30 Hour training is advantageous.
- Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
- Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
- Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the customer's mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Must be able be able to conduct preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs from ladders or elevated platforms.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in small areas or uncomfortable positions.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and set up equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing over 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable getting dirty, dusty, and greasy in an indoor or outdoor environment with frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors environments. Some work is performed with exposure to low to loud noise level; frequent fieldwork is required with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and the external environment; tasks may require working in tightly enclosed spaces and the use of ladders or other safety equipment to gain access to hard-to-reach locations; some work is performed in crawl spaces, attics or on rooftops. Some work may require exposure to dust, particulates, unpleasant and potentially hazardous substances and high voltage.
