Production Operator

Job Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for operating plant equipment to produce finished product.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Oversees processing of raw material to finished product.
• Maintains optimum flow of material from initial receipt to shipment.
• Monitors equipment and various gauges to ensure maximum efficiencies.
• May perform some preventative maintenance duties (i.e. lubricating machinery and checking lubricant levels as required)
• Informs Shift Lead Person and Plant Manager of any problems.
• May be responsible for plant start-up or shut-down.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
• Aware of, have received training and is responsible for maintaining Darling's Food Safety program.
• Maintains good housekeeping standards.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Work well with others in a team environment.
• Safety conscience; detail oriented; able to multi-task.
• Good mechanical skills; knowledge of plant processes and equipment.
• Ability to learn to operate plant mobile and stationary equipment safely and effectively.

Education/Experience Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Experience in Bakery plant or related environment dealing with moisture levels, conveyors, mixers, pressure washers, air and wastewater controls is beneficial.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Occasionally push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a bakery plant environment.
