About the Job

The Faculty Coordinator Assistant for the BIOL 1015: Human Physiology, Technology, and
Medical Devices cohort is a 0.25 (10 hours/week) graduate assistant position within the College
in the Schools program in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies. This is a
semester-length appointment with the possibility of renewal based on current budget planning,
but is subject to the changing program needs of CIS, availability of funding, among other
factors. College in the Schools is the University of Minnesota Twin Cities' concurrent enrollment
program that provides high school teachers the opportunity to teach U of M courses and high
school students the opportunity to earn University of Minnesota credit.

This position supports a College in the Schools Human Physiology program through school
visits and teacher development. Reports to the CIS Faculty Coordinator for BIOL 1015.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Support 100%

Position duties include:
1. Coordinate efforts related to the NACEP re-accreditation project that must be completed
in the Fall of 2025.
2. Conduct 2-3 site visits to the classrooms of high school instructors teaching Biol 1015,
Human Physiology. Site visits are mostly in the Twin Cities metro area and all will be
within a 1.5-hour radius of the Twin Cities campus; travel time is included, and mileage
will be reimbursed.
3. Help to plan, implement, and deliver a professional development session for high school
instructors.
4. Interview current Biology majors at the U of M who have matriculated through CIS/Biol
1015 and write a "best practices" paper in terms of pedagogy and physiology topics. The
target audience of the paper will be Biol 1015 instructors, with a possible secondary
audience comprising members of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society.
5. Help develop a "best practices" document for human anatomy and physiology dual
enrollment programs.

Qualifications

Required
1. Enrolled in STEM Education doctoral program within CEHD at the University of
Minnesota Twin Cities
2. Prior experience as a high school STEM classroom teacher
3. Prior experience working with high school teachers and students
4. Experience with anatomy and physiology teaching and learning
5. Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and serving a diverse community of
learners in a professional setting.

Preferred
1. Ability to work autonomously
2. Experience writing manuscripts, curriculum, and administrative documents.
3. Experience with program/classroom evaluation
4. Experience with the U of M's Brain U program.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $27.95/Hour

Student workers are eligible to participate in the Student Health Benefit Plan, if they maintain 6 or more eligible course credits within a given semester. The same applies for Undergraduate Students, Graduate Assistants, Residents, Fellows and Interns.
