TTCU Federal Credit Union is seeking a passionate and motivated Senior Consumer Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for evaluating and approving loan applications, ensuring sound lending decisions, and providing exceptional service to our members. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:




  • Accept and process loan applications gathering all information necessary to evaluate credit worthiness.



  • Approve or deny the application, offer all other viable alternatives and either assign it to a branch or close the loan. Confer with Credit Manager to resolve loan application problems or questionable loan decision.



  • Build relationships with both dealers and branch employees to ensure a smooth process for the duration of the loan.



  • Review loan applications to ensure compliance with proper regulatory guidelines and the policies of TTCU.


  • Work closely with the loan processing, sales, and collections teams to facilitate smooth loan origination processes and resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Communicate loan decisions, including declines or counteroffers, to members professionally and clearly.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an underwriting role.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, loan underwriting processes, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as Fair Lending laws and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
  • Proficiency in using loan origination systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Certification in credit analysis or underwriting (e.g., CUNA Credit Union Certified Underwriter) can be a plus.
