Senior Lab Technician (Hourly)

The Senior Lab Technician is responsible for being the lead person and point of contact in the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all lab testing requirements for contracted customers
  • Participates in all daily Lab duties
  • Test truck, tank, ship, and drum samples to ensure that all products shipped and received meet the customer supplied specifications and be able to interpret all results.
  • Ensure that the Certificate of Analysis are updated for each product whenever tested.
  • Manage retain samples to include storage, collection, recouping and recycling.
  • Make sure all Lab equipment is maintained and in working order, order parts, gas cylinders, reagents and have serviced when required
  • Maintain the annual calibration of Lab equipment and proper record keeping. Also keep all certificates of such in organized file
  • Responsible to properly contain and label all lab waste generated
  • Keep Ethanol receipt proofing results and corresponding Ethanol logs
  • Follow all safe job procedures in the lab and dispatch areas maintain good housekeeping
  • Run analytical tests for wastewater treatment system
  • Order Lab supplies
  • Keep up with Lab procedural changes and work instructions
  • Maintain Lab files
  • Communicate with Customer Service Supervisor when Lab OT is required for proper staffing
  • Conduct annual Lab training refreshers
  • Lab new hire training
  • Communicate performance assessments for Lab personnel directly to M.L Customer Service Supervisor to aid in their preparation of annual performance evaluations.
  • Month end Lab billing
  • Truck inspections
  • Back up in Dispatching only when warranted

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice

  • This job operates in an office environment as well as the outside environment.
  • Must have the ability to be outside and climb for truck inspections.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
