Job Description:

  • Prepare in final form assigned financial statements and reports, including disclosures, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and governmental requirements; prepare major account analyses for items such as self-insurance liabilities and pension plans; and develop and implement new accounting procedures or controls as needed.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare in final form: consolidated State Urban Grant Report, Quarterly GAAP basis financial statements, audited annual financial statements, and Single Audit Report, as assigned.
  • Reconcile consolidated and payroll bank accounts to general ledger, and prepare account analyses, as assigned.
  • Prepare in final form and coordinate statistical and financial sections of annual National Transit Database Report ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance, and prepare responses to NTD Report inquiries, as assigned.
  • Develop and implement new financial statement disclosures and accounting procedures, as required, by the GASB and other authoritative accounting and govemmental bodies, as assigned.
  • Calculate and evaluate self-insurance and corporate liabilities, as assigned.
  • Prepare financial statement footnote disclosures relating to cash and investments, pension plans, claims liabilities, employee retirement benefits and other categories, as assigned.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual cash flow statements in accordance with GAAP, as assigned.
  • Prepare journal entries for pension plans, fumish information requested by actuaries, and ensure proper amounts are funded for pension plans, as assigned.
  • Coordinate auditors' management comments and follow-up on corrective action, as assigned.
  • Function as temporary backup to the Accounting Manager, when needed.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant Certificate or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years experience in a general accounting and/or related environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and personal computer spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience in implementing improvements to existing accounting and internal control procedures.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to accomplishing assigned duties on time.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Extensity (GEAC) financial systems preferred.
